Boys Basketball Season with Coach Mawhirter

Coach Mawhirter, candidly opened up and spoke about this year’s boys basketball season. He stated, that this year the team has had a lot of adversity they have had to overcome. Injuries plagued the team and players making poor choices, not in the best interest of the team all made this season memorable. Overall, they have played very well, they’ve competed in almost every game, got 2nd in the HPL tournament and Bluejay Invitational. All the players played hard, and coach Mawhirter is proud of their efforts.

Coach Mawhirter is very happy with the effort given by the players, but they haven’t finished games out yet. Mawhirter tried to stress the importance of establishing a culture focused on a team-first attitude and establishing a mindset of getting better every day, focusing on consistent daily improvement. “We still have plenty of room for improvement, but much progress has been made”, stated Coach Mawhirter. Overall coach Mawhirter felt that his players level of commitment isn’t quite where it should be, they’ve shown that they could compete with the teams in their sub-state, and coach believes the team could surprise people late in the year.
